Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 cup melted coconut oil (or vegetable oil)

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, applesauce, and melted coconut oil. Stir until well blended.

Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar to the banana mixture, then mix in the eggs and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is fully incorporated.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chips if using. The batter will be thick.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the edges are slightly pulling away from the sides of the pan.

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, cut into squares and enjoy your delicious Banana Bread Brownies!
