Ingredients

1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/2 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sugar

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked jasmine rice for serving

Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Let it marinate for at least 20 minutes to enhance flavors.

Prepare the Sauce: In another bowl, whisk together the beef broth, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, and a little sprinkle of pepper. Set aside.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and immediately transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.

Sauté the Aromatics: In a large wok or skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, stirring quickly for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Cook the Beef: Add the marinated flank steak to the wok in a single layer. Let it sear for 2-3 minutes without stirring, then cook for another 2 minutes, stirring continuously until it’s browned and cooked through.

Combine Everything: Add the blanched broccoli to the wok, then pour in the prepared sauce. Stir well and cook for 2-3 more minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the beef and broccoli evenly.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve hot over cooked jasmine rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro if desired.
