Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter, stirring until well incorporated.

Add in the brown sugar and granulated sugar, mixing until creamy and smooth.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture, and stir until combined.

Gradually fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined; do not overmix.

Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using, until evenly distributed in the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing them into squares.
