Ingredients

4 slices of thick-cut brioche or challah bread

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk (or plant-based milk)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for cooking)

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon maple syrup

Fresh berries (for topping)

Powdered sugar (for garnish)

Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.

Once melted, dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 20 seconds on each side for a richer flavor.

Transfer the soaked bread slices to the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Once the bread is cooked, remove it from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and brown sugar. Stir to combine and let it melt.

Place the cooked French toast slices back into the skillet, coating them in the caramelized mixture for about 1 minute on each side until they are beautifully caramelized.

Drizzle maple syrup over the caramelized French toast and serve immediately topped with fresh berries, powdered sugar, and whipped cream if desired.
