Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced diagonally

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

A pinch of salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A squeeze of fresh lemon juice (optional, for brightness)

Chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans) for garnish (optional)

Vanilla ice cream or yogurt for serving (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Slice the bananas diagonally into thick slices (about 1/2 inch each) for even cooking.

Melt the Butter: In a non-stick skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it starts bubbling, but not browned.

Add Sugar and Cinnamon: Sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon into the skillet, stirring to combine with the melted butter, creating a caramel-like mixture. Allow this to bubble gently for about 1 minute.

Fry the Bananas: Carefully add the sliced bananas to the skillet, making sure they are evenly coated with the mixture. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they start to turn golden brown, then gently flip them to the other side.

Finish Cooking: After flipping, cook for another 2-3 minutes until both sides are caramelized and the bananas are tender. Drizzle in the vanilla extract and lemon juice (if using), and stir gently to combine. Let them cook for another minute.

Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Serve the warm cinnamon bananas immediately, garnished with chopped nuts if desired and a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of yogurt on the side.
