Ingredients

For the Fruit Filling:

2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 teaspoon cinnamon

For the Crisp Topping:

1 cup old-fashioned oats

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans or almonds work well)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Fruit Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and peaches. Add the granulated sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Toss gently to coat the fruit evenly. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9-inch square baking dish.

Make the Crisp Topping: In another bowl, mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and ground cinnamon. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly. Finally, add the chopped nuts and mix well.

Assemble the Crisp: Evenly distribute the crisp topping over the fruit filling in the baking dish, making sure to cover it well.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.

Cool and Serve: Remove the crisp from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
