Ingredients

12 Sweet Hawaiian Rolls

6 large eggs

1 cup milk (whole or 2%)

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

1/2 cup crushed pineapple (optional)

1/2 cup shredded coconut (optional)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Powdered sugar for dusting

Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or butter.

Prepare the Rolls: Slice the Sweet Hawaiian Rolls in half horizontally. If desired, you can pull out some of the bread from the insides to create more space for the custard mixture.

Arrange the Rolls: Place the bottom halves of the Hawaiian Rolls in the greased baking dish. Optionally, sprinkle crushed pineapple and shredded coconut evenly over the rolls for added flavor and texture. Then place the top halves of the rolls on top.

Make the Custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg until fully combined.

Pour the Custard: Slowly pour the custard mixture evenly over the arranged rolls. Use a spatula or your hands to gently press down on the rolls to ensure they absorb the custard mixture.

Add Butter: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the rolls to enhance flavor and promote browning.

Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. After that, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

Serve: Let the bake cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm with maple syrup on the side for drizzling.

Enjoy: Savor the deliciousness of this Sweet Hawaiian Roll French Toast Bake, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even dessert!
