Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1 egg, beaten

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 whole grain burger buns

Olive oil, for cooking

Lettuce, tomato, and avocado for toppings (optional)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, minced garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well integrated, but do not overmix.

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty, about 1 inch thick.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and drizzle with a little olive oil. Once hot, add the chicken burgers to the skillet.

Cook the burgers for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

While the burgers are cooking, toast the whole grain burger buns on a separate skillet or on a toaster.

Once the burgers are done, assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a toasted bun. Top with lettuce, sliced tomato, and avocado if desired.

Serve the burgers hot with your favorite side, such as sweet potato fries or a fresh salad.
