Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1/2 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)

1 small shallot, finely minced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Olive oil (for cooking)

4 burger buns

Lettuce leaves, for serving

Tomato slices, for serving

Avocado slices, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, minced shallot, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix until fully combined, but do not overwork the meat.

Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Cook the Burgers: In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on one side, until golden brown, then carefully flip and cook for another 5-7 minutes on the other side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

Toast the Buns: While the burgers are cooking, you can toast the burger buns in a separate pan or under a broiler until golden.

Assemble the Burgers: Once the patties are cooked, place each one on a toasted bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, and avocado slices if desired. Add any additional condiments of your choice (like mayo, ketchup, or hot sauce).

Serve: Serve the White Cheddar and Spinach Chicken Burgers hot with your favorite side dishes like sweet potato fries or a fresh salad.
